Neurotherapy is the combination of different modalities for the purpose regulating the brain. We utilize the combination of Neurofeedback and Neuromodulation to achieve optimal results.
QEEG refers to a quantitative EEG, which is an electrical measurement, analysis and quantification of brainwaves. Since we are mapping out and analyzing the brain, we also refer to it as a brain map.
When doing a Quantitative EEG, we place a cap with multiple electrodes onto the head. These electrodes can record the action potentials generated by the brain. The data received is then processed through digital filters that provide more insight into the raw data.
The software we utilize then compares the client’s EEG to a normative database of hundreds of other EEGs. We will ask specific questions at the start of the Brainmap, so we can match you to your specific peer group for comparison. We are also able to examine functional connectivity of the brain, by way of brain symmetry and the stability of brainwave relationships.
With all the information gathered from the brainmap, we will be able to identify problematic symptoms and behaviors. Along with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, the brainmap is able to provide a deeper level of understanding of a client’s condition.
Neurofeedback
Neurotherapy is a combination of approaches in working with brain functioning. The most commonly known approach is neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is a therapeutic intervention that provides the client feedback in real-time by way of auditory, visual and tactile cues. It is a process of operant conditioning which leads to enhancing self-regulation of brain activity.
When using neurofeedback, we use electrodes that are placed on the head and are able to read the clients brainwaves. With that information, if the brain activity changes in the desired direction, then a reward is given in the form of positive feedback. If the brain activity is not changing in the desired direction, then an inhibitor is used to discourage a continuation of that activity.
We utilize several forms of neurofeedback such as; infra-low, alpha-theta, synchrony, amplitude training, z-score, and combination of neurofeedback with neuromodulation.
Neurostimulation/Neuromodulation
Neurostimulation/Neuromodulation is what sets us apart from other agencies that provide neurofeedback. Since neurofeedback is designed to condition a response, desired results may take longer to achieve. Neurostimulation is designed to give the brain what it needs. This has shown to produce desired results in a shorter amount of time. We use the following forms of neurostimulation:
- tDCS (Transcranial direct current)
- tACS (Transcranial alternating current)
- tRNS (Transcranial random noise)
- pEMF (Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy)
We utilize these different forms of neurostimulation to address the client’s specific needs. Each stimulation modality is designed to address different symptoms/behaviors.
